Architectural Designer (Masterplanning) role at Populous.

Our team encompasses disciplines including architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, wayfinding, and more, enabling us to transform neighbourhoods and build venues such as Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and The Co-op Live Arena.
This role sits within our Urban Design studio in the Putney office, and you’ll work with multiple departments in a growth-oriented environment, taking on design tasks, managing and presenting work, and collaborating across disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Concept Development & Masterplanning – Assist in the development of masterplan concepts and urban design strategies at various scales, ensuring a connection between architecture, landscape, and urban spaces.
- Design & Visualization – Produce high-quality design outputs including diagrams, 3D models, visualizations, and presentation materials to communicate urban design ideas and narratives.
- Collaboration & Coordination – Work with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate urban design concepts into large-scale projects.
- Technical Documentation & Reports – Support preparation of reports, drawings, and other technical documentation across design phases.
- Digital & Computational Design – Use software such as Rhino, Grasshopper, and visualization tools to develop and refine design solutions and incorporate emerging digital technologies where applicable.
- Research & Innovation – Stay informed on topics like future cities, crowd dynamics, mobility, sustainability, and user experience to enhance project outcomes.
- Project Management Support – Assist with time management, deadlines, and project organization to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Support internal and external presentations to articulate urban design concepts to clients and collaborators.
Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture or Urban Design
- Some years of experience in a professional design practice
- Experience in masterplanning projects is a major plus
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Proficiency in Rhino and Adobe products; Revit is a major plus
