Are you an experienced rotational pharmacist looking for an exciting new specialised role? Would you like to receive specialist training and work within a supportive and motivated Neonatal and Women's Services pharmacy team? This exciting new job role in Neonatal and Women's services will allow you to develop your skills and take part in exciting service development projects. Prior experience within Neonatal and Women's Services is not essential as you will receive training in this specialist area and be supported by the Senior Pharmacist for Neonatal and Women's Services. We are looking for a motivated pharmacist who is keen to learn, develop and work in a rewarding area.

Main Duties of the Job:

  • To work closely under the supervision of the Senior Pharmacist Neonates and Women's services in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to the directorate.
  • To undergo supportive training package gaining experience in providing a clinical pharmacy service to the neonatal intensive care and high dependency units.
  • Provide clinical pharmaceutical services, including reviewing prescriptions, dispensing, and patient counselling within Neonatal and Women's services promoting the safe and secure use of medicines.
  • To gain experience under the supervision of the Senior Pharmacists for Children's services in provision of clinical pharmacy to paediatric inpatients, to provide support in their absence.

Person Specification:

  • Qualification – Essential: Masters Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registration with GPhC; Completed Year 1 of postgraduate Clinical Diploma or equivalent qualification; Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in a broad range of medical and surgical specialties relevant to post.
  • Qualification – Desirable: Independent prescribing qualification; Completed postgraduate Clinical Diploma or equivalent qualification; Experience in supervising, training and assessing staff.
  • Experience – Essential: Ability to work autonomously and on own initiative and also to co-operate within a team to achieve desired outcomes; Ability to manage own time effectively and prioritise appropriately; Ability to adapt behaviour to changing circumstances and work under pressure.
  • Experience – Desirable: Experience of undertaking audits and participating in clinical research; Ability to demonstrate specialist knowledge of pharmacy in the context of neonatal and women's medicine; Experience of implementing or delivering the objectives of cost/service improvement programmes.
