The opportunity Popsa is building a library of original illustrated artwork for our printed photo books, and we need a brilliant illustrator to help us create it. You'll work closely with our product design team to conceive and develop multiple distinct illustrative styles, producing a cohesive body of work that feels considered and consistent; a collection that looks like a set, not a series of one-offs. This is a rare opportunity to help define our illustration language from scratch. To define a visual language that didn't exist before and see it come to life inside a product used by millions. This is a contract role based in London. The ideal candidate will be based in London and able to work from Popsa’s Soho office on a hybrid basis.

What you'll do:

  • Work with the Product Design team to define distinct illustrative styles
  • Produce a consistent body of work within those styles
  • Refine and iterate on artwork based on feedback from the product team and users
  • Collaborate with product design to ensure finished artwork integrates beautifully into the apps
  • Adapt artwork across multiple formats and aspect ratios to work beautifully across our product range

What we're looking for:

  • An excellent illustrator with a well-developed visual sensibility and a portfolio of work to show for it
  • Experience in particular with travel illustration
  • A passion for your craft
  • Flexibility across styles and visual languages
  • The ability to think systematically about a visual language
  • Enough seniority to work with autonomy. Comfortable owning decisions, direction, and workload
  • Comfortable with AI tools as part of the creative workflow
  • A collaborative mindset

Nice to have:

  • An understanding of localisation constraints
  • Experience with product or UX/UI design

Details:

  • COMPENSATION: We're open to negotiation, depending on your experience and skill
  • ENGAGEMENT: This will start off as a fixed term contract for the duration of the project, with the possibility of extending to a full-time role in future.
