Role overview
To provide specialist, trauma-informed therapeutic support to children, young people, and families affected by cardiac conditions. You will deliver timely, evidence-based interventions that address the emotional, psychological, and bereavement needs of families during and after diagnosis.
Salary: Β£48,000βΒ£56,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, fixed term (24 months)
Location: Washington (PLF office), with regular travel across Tyne and Wear
Reporting to: Clinical Lead / Service Manager
Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of CYP and families, including CBT, ACT, DBT, DDP, EMDR, or Play Therapy.
- Carry out assessments of therapeutic readiness and develop co-produced support plans in collaboration with families.
- Attend regular MDT meetings and provide clinical insight to wider care planning.
- Maintain accurate, secure clinical records and outcome data.
- Work alongside the Youth Worker to ensure a seamless and integrated support pathway.
- Contribute to evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement of the pilot service.
- Participate in monthly clinical supervision and adhere to relevant professional standards and governance.
- Offer flexibility in delivery, including in-hospital, community, home, and virtual support.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Professional qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or equivalent.
- Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, HCPC).
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in a therapeutic setting.
- Skilled in working with trauma, grief, and crisis.
- Excellent communication and multi-agency working skills.
- A car driver with access to a vehicle and willingness to travel across the region.
