LIVE-IN HOUSEMAN / HANDYMAN / ALL-ROUNDER, PRIVATE ESTATE, SOMERSET, £50k-£65k

Role: Houseman / Handyman /All rounder

Location: Bruton, Somerset
Salary: £50,000£65,000 (depending on experience)
Accommodation: Newly-renovated cottage
Days/Hours: 5 days per week | 45 hours per week (flexible when principals are in residence)

A family Estate in Somerset is seeking an all-rounder Houseman/Handyman (light Groundsman) to oversee the daily operations and maintenance and of a 6-bedroom country property, surrounding gardens, outbuildings, pool, and cottages

The family visits this second residence some weekends and certain times of the year, requiring a flexible attitude and a thorough oversight of the property year-round

When the Clients are on-site the Houseman will be very focussed upon the needs of the Principals in a service-oriented way. Requirements may include Chauffeuring the Family, meeting and greeting guests and offering light hospitality, in conjunction with other household staff. Candidates with any experience of cleaning, housekeeping, light cooking and service will also be highly prioritised

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Property oversight including liaising with external contractors and service providers
  • General handyman tasks and household repairs
  • Hands-on pool maintenance and patio/grounds cleanliness
  • Fire, security, CCTV, and media system checks (Sky, Netflix, etc.)
  • Garden upkeep: mowing, trimming, weeding, watering, mulching, planting, hedgerow care; Landscaping and garden project assistance
  • Pet care (dogs): walking, feeding, vet visits, and general welfare
  • Vehicle care: washing, polishing
  • Occasional Chauffeuring
  • Operating and maintaining heating and plant room systems
  • Safe operation of chainsaws and other machinery (certification preferred)
  • Heavy lifting, equipment setup, and furniture storage

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in a similar estate or private household role
  • Confident operating machinery and equipment
  • Confident being front of house and integrating with internal household staff, if required
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full clean UK driving license
  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent references and hands-on approach
