The Role and Candidate
The Stock Supervisor plays a key role in managing the back-of-house stock operation at our new flagship store.
Working closely with the BOH Stock Manager and wider store leadership team, the Stock Supervisor will help oversee the daily stockroom operation, ensuring stock is received, processed, stored and replenished accurately and efficiently.
This is a hands-on supervisory role that requires strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to lead and support a team in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
The Stock Supervisor will help maintain high standards of stock accuracy, stockroom organisation, health and safety and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will be confident supporting and guiding Stock Assistants, prioritising daily workload and ensuring that stock is available on the sales floor when required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily BOH stock operation, ensuring stock is received, processed, stored and replenished efficiently.
- Support the BOH Stock Manager in organising and allocating daily tasks to the stock team.
- Lead and support Stock Assistants, providing guidance, training and feedback to ensure operational standards are maintained.
- Receive and process deliveries, checking stock against packing slips and purchase orders and escalating any discrepancies, damages or shortages.
- Maintain high levels of stock accuracy through regular cycle counts, stock checks and investigations into discrepancies.
- Oversee putaway and stockroom organisation, ensuring products are correctly labelled, stored and easy to locate.
- Monitor stockroom capacity and organisation, ensuring the BOH area remains clean, safe and operationally efficient.
- Ensure stock is security-tagged and handled correctly to minimise damage, loss and shrinkage.
- Coordinate timely replenishment of the sales floor, working closely with FOH colleagues and responding to stock requests.
- Support the processing of faulty stock, transfers, returns and other stock movements.
- Assist with stock audits and investigations, identifying and escalating discrepancies where required.
- Ensure all BOH processes are followed consistently and in line with company procedures.
- Support the BOH Stock Manager with training and onboarding of new stock team members.
- Help maintain strong communication between the BOH and FOH teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, ensuring walkways, emergency exits and working areas remain clear and safe.
- Report any operational, stock or health and safety issues promptly to the BOH Stock Manager or Store Management.
- Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, according to store needs.
- Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in a stockroom, warehouse, logistics or back-of-house retail environment.
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience is desirable.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on stock accuracy.
- Confident communicating with both BOH and FOH colleagues and supporting a diverse team.
- Proactive, reliable and hands-on, with the ability to work independently when required.
- Comfortable working in a physically active role, including moving and handling stock.
- Fluent in professional English, with strong verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a high-volume retail environment and managing changing priorities.
- A positive attitude towards teamwork, coaching and continuous improvement.
Desirable but Not Essential
- Experience supervising a retail stockroom, warehouse or BOH team.
- Knowledge of CEGID POS usage.
- Experience using stock management or inventory systems.
- Experience in the toy, collectibles, fashion or wider retail industry.
- Experience working within a flagship or high-volume retail environment.
- Multi-lingual language ability.
