Senior Engineer Office-based with site support | Full-time | Competitive Salary + Benefits Poolhall Recruitment are looking for a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our clients team and provide end-to-end engineering support – from tender stage through to project handover. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on technical excellence, enjoys mentoring junior staff, and wants to play a pivotal role in setting projects up for success. What You’ll Do As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be the technical lead ensuring our projects start on the right foot. Your work will cover: Pre-Contract / Tender Support * Reviewing and managing all contractual and technical documentation (drawings, surveys, specs, etc). * Building robust earthworks tender models and delivering accurate cut/fill volumes with clear assumptions. * Identifying risks and gaps, raising RFIs, and contributing to tender method statements and programmes. * Providing volumetric inputs to estimating and commercial teams, while maintaining strict revision control. * Handing over comprehensive packages to site-based engineering teams to ensure smooth project launch. Engineering & Modelling * Producing accurate 3D models for earthworks, remediation platforms, roads, stone matts, and temporary works. * Preparing machine control files (Trimble/Topcon), stake-out models, and set-out drawings. * Delivering detailed volume reports, section plots, and validation packs for client and internal approvals. Document Control & Information Management * Setting up and managing all received information for tenders and pre-construction (metadata, versioning, registers, etc). * Maintaining a clear, auditable trail of documentation to ensure only approved revisions feed into models. * Coordinating closely with design, survey, and commercial teams to keep deliverables aligned. Handover & Site Support * Preparing Engineer’s Handover Packs, including approved models, setting-out schedules, and risk logs. * Briefing site engineers and providing early-stage support with rapid updates where needed. Leadership & Mentoring * Supervising and supporting junior engineers on larger projects. * Providing coaching, regular feedback, and opportunities for development to ensure high standards. What We’re Looking For * Proven experience as an Engineer with strong 3D modelling and earthworks expertise. * Excellent knowledge of machine control systems (Trimble/Topcon). * Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail. * Ability to manage information flows and maintain revision control. * Leadership qualities with a passion for mentoring junior engineers.
