The Role
We are looking to recruit a Receptionist to join our Reception team at our Head Office in Barrow-in-Furness. This is a permanent role providing a professional, welcoming and efficient front‑of‑house service to clients, visitors and colleagues across the business. The successful candidate will act as one of the first points of contact for clients and visitors, ensuring a positive experience from first interaction whilst supporting the smooth running of reception and associated administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, professional and efficient welcome to clients and visitors
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously
- Deal with enquiries professionally, resolving where possible or directing to the appropriate department
- Take client payments, issue receipts where required and ensure payment information is recorded accurately in line with company procedures
- Manage visitor sign‑in procedures and ensure protocols are followed
- Handle incoming and outgoing post, couriers and deliveries
- Assist with meeting room bookings and preparation of rooms for client meetings
- Provide administrative support to departments as required
- Maintain diaries, appointment systems and shared calendars where required
- Scan, photocopy and distribute documentation accurately and confidentially
- Assist in maintaining a safe, tidy and welcoming office environment
- Support the completion of reception‑related Health & Safety responsibilities where required
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR, anti‑money laundering procedures, regulatory requirements and company policies
- Build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Identify opportunities to refer clients to other services within the business where appropriate
You will have:
- Reception, administration or customer service experience, ideally within a busy environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- A professional telephone manner and confident, approachable personality
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure
- Good problem‑solving skills and the confidence to seek support when required
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- A friendly, professional and positive attitude
- A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach
- A high level of discretion and confidentiality
- Experience working within a professional services organisation such as legal, property, financial services or similar
- Experience handling client payments and maintaining accurate records
- Experience of working with case management, diary or client management systems
