An independent, Birmingham-based media agency built around a behavioural planning philosophy using how audiences actually think, feel and act to shape strategy, rather than working off modelled assumptions. The team is small but well established, working as a genuine extension of clients’ own marketing departments. They cover a broad mix of accounts and channels, with a strong focus on translating audience behaviour into media and communications strategy.
Strategy sits at the centre of how this agency operates. It's not a siloed function producing decks that gather dust; it directly shapes what every account does next, across the full client roster. If you want your thinking to actually influence output, this is the team to be on.
This is a generalist Strategist role sitting across all client accounts, not ring-fenced to a single sector or channel. You'll be central to how the agency joins the dots between research, insight and the final strategic output shaping the thinking that underpins each client's approach rather than executing a media plan. Alongside day-to-day account strategy, you'll play an active role in new business, contributing to and helping shape pitches as the agency looks to grow its client base. This is a considered hire rather than an urgent backfill.
You will:
- Work across the full account list, not one sector or channel, developing strategy for a genuinely varied set of clients
- Join the dots between research, insight and audience behaviour to shape each client's strategic approach
- Contribute directly to new business pitches, helping shape the strategic thinking behind each one
- Present strategic thinking clearly and confidently, both internally and to clients
You have:
- Circa 3 years' experience in a strategy or planning role
- A media background is a plus; digital or offline, either is fine but strategic thinking matters more than the specific channel experience
- A track record of turning insight into a clear, actionable narrative
You are:
- A strong strategic thinker who can synthesise insight into a clear narrative
- Comfortable working across a varied account list rather than one specialism
- Confident presenting your thinking under pressure, including from a brief with limited turnaround
- Motivated by growth, both the agency's and your own
Interview Process:
- Initial video call: an informal conversation based around your CV and experience
- Second stage: an in-person meeting where you'll be given a brief and asked to present your strategic thinking back to the team
