Main Purpose
The School Games Organiser role is instrumental in championing the vision and mission of the School Games program to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people through sports and physical activity. The role involves planning, coordinating, and delivering the School Games in a designated area while supporting schools to promote the importance of physical activity and ensuring appropriate competitive opportunities are available to all young people across Key Stages 2‑4. The focus includes addressing national priorities such as tackling inequalities, promoting youth engagement, and enhancing physical literacy through the School Games. In addition, the post holder will recruit, train, deploy a suitable workforce and support the development of club opportunities for all young people. The role works in partnership with Sport England, the Youth Sport Trust, and local stakeholders.
In addition to the three‑day per week School Games Organiser role, the post holder will work one day per week with the Strategic Lead for Sport at Twynham Learning and outside partners to deliver the outcomes of the Barclays Girls\' Football Partnership programme for the Poole area. The aim is to sustain the growth of girls’ football in schools and increase community opportunities for girls.

Duties and Responsibilities
- To maintain school engagement and support schools to continue to prioritise and deliver 60 active minutes for every child, providing opportunities for young people to improve physical, emotional and social wellbeing.
- To ensure physical activity and competition provision supports young people’s wider development, including re‑socialisation and psychological and physiological fitness.
- To ensure that the local offer provides opportunities for young people to take on leadership and volunteering roles.
- Increase the number of state and independent schools participating in the School Games.
- Promote ways in which the School Games and competitive sport can contribute to school priorities and improve the aspirations and achievements of local students.
- Work with other SGOs to publish a structured and progressive competition calendar that meets the needs of all young people across the SGO cluster and increases competitive fixtures.
- Ensure the competition calendar is aligned to club pathways and NGB competition priority formats.
- Provide inclusive and targeted opportunities for disabled young people to access competition through the School Games.
- Collaborate with county SGOs to deliver high‑quality county events.
- Sustain young people’s commitment to an active lifestyle by linking to a wide range of club and community sport opportunities.
- Set local targets and report progress against these on a termly basis.
- Attend half‑termly SGO meetings and annual regional and national SGO conferences.
- Work with schools, clubs and partners to deliver the outcomes of the Girls’ Football programme.
- Present reports and attend meetings where appropriate.
- Meet nationally prescribed KPIs and report progress on a termly basis.
- Establish productive relationships with Dorset FA and other girls’ football partnerships in the county.
- Deliver bespoke interventions for schools, providing free CPD and resources.
- Advocate the impact of football on girls’ wellbeing, leadership and achievement.
- Develop and test specialist interventions and learning through football in schools.
- Support the transition of young people to sustain their involvement in girls’ football.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
- Knowledge and experience of school sport and community sport structures.
- Six GCSEs 9‑4 (A‑C) or equivalent including English and Maths.
- Full driving licence with access to own transport.
- Qualified or working towards a degree or Level 4 qualification in Physical Education, sports‑related fields, business/management.
- NGB Level 2 qualification (if not holding QTS).
- Willingness to undertake further professional development.
- Experience in planning, coordinating events and organising competitions.
- Successful track record of managing projects and partnership working.
- Experience of school sport and physical activity development.
- Experience working with schools, clubs and partners with young people (4‑19).
- Experience and understanding of safeguarding.
- Knowledge of health and safety within sport.
- High interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate effective partnership working.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Highly developed problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.

- Further Level 2 or higher governing body of sport coaching award(s)
- A relevant degree (e.g., sport, coaching, management).

- Experience with local sports development teams, community clubs and sports organisations.
- Experience training and working with sports leaders.
- Awareness of national and local strategies such as Sport England’s \'Uniting the Movement\', Active Partnerships, etc.
- Strong negotiating skills to influence at senior levels across organisations.
- Understanding and commitment to partnership working.
- Knowledge and understanding of data protection legislation.
