MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To operate as a member of the Actuarial team providing actuarial modelling and analysis and other analytical capabilities to Pool Re and wider Pool Re teams where necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Contribute to Pool Re’s goal of becoming the authoritative expert on terrorism modelling and awareness
•Support model development within Tyche & Python frameworks
•Improve detail and parametersation of key threats to Pool Re and its members, liaising with counter terrorism specialists or subject specialists as required
•Support treaty pricing through the development and maintenance of models within Tyche & Python frameworks
•Maintain and enhance VBA-based tools, including the data collection tools, to improve efficiency and robustness
•Liaise with members and actuaries where required
•Use SQL to provide parameter and threat output storage; or to produce separate reports for management
•Contribute to a fully documented set of processes and procedures to meet governance requirements
•Provide Validation & Governance support, and sensitivity analyses of pricing model
•Provide analytical capabilities to assist U/W Team, PReS (consultancy) and Exposure Team where necessary; and to build relationships within these team
•Provide reconciliation checks between legacy and newly developed systems; and assist with robust version control and model changes
•Ensure all Actuarial (IFoA) Technical Guidance and Requirements and complied with including Peer review
•Apply statistical methods where appropriate to summarise risk representations

Essential
•Strong actuarial modelling and analytical skills
•Good communication skills
•Strong Excel and VBA skills
•Ability to learn and apply new coding languages and modelling tools, including Python and Tyche.Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
•Ability to explain technical outputs to non-technical stakeholders
Desirable
•Experience working within a reinsurance environment
•Understanding the drivers within Natural Catastrophe models would be advantageous
•SQL knowledge of creating databases and writing code
•Knowledge of Goit development environments
•Geocoding experience eg QGIS
QUALIFICATIONS:
•FIA, Degree
EXPERIENCE:
•Post-qualified actuarial experience, ideally gained within general insurance, reinsurance, pricing, capital modelling or exposure/risk modelling
