Our client, a major player in the Utilities industry, is seeking a talented Transmission Engineer to join their team. With an extensive overhaul of the UK electricity grid underway, this is your opportunity to play a key role in this transformative initiative. As a Transmission Engineer, you will be a vital member of our client’s Asset Management HV Plant team, which ensures the design, layout, and configuration of high voltage primary plant within electricity transmission substations. Your expertise will be crucial in refurbishing existing substations as well as constructing new substations across England and Wales. In this role, you will provide technical guidance, reviewing technical drawings and documentation, and ensuring compliance with clients and IEC specifications. Collaborating with colleagues, you will identify process improvements, evaluate technical solutions, and support commissioning teams. Your attention to detail and adherence to procedures will guarantee that projects are delivered to the highest standards and fulfil regulatory, stakeholder, and customer commitments. To excel in this position, you should have a strong understanding of substation primary plant design, layout, and configuration, along with experience working with technical specifications and policies. A STEM degree or demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering project environment is required, with an electrical bias preferred. Familiarity with relevant industry standards, such as British Standards (BS), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and Electricity Networks Association (ENA), will also be essential.
