Job Title: Governance Lead Location: Hybrid (Warwick base, 1-2 days/month on-site) Contract Length: 6 months (with potential to extend) Day Rate: £550 per day (Inside IR35 via umbrella) About the Role We are supporting a major organisation in the UK energy sector as they establish a new strategic planning function to support regional energy development across electricity, gas, heat, hydrogen, and more. As part of this transformation, they are seeking an experienced Governance Lead to join the team on a contract basis. This role will play a key part in shaping the regulatory and governance framework for this new function, working closely with Ofgem and other stakeholders. It is a fast-paced, high-pressure environment that requires someone who can work autonomously, bring deep regulatory knowledge, and contribute to long-term governance design. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of licence conditions and guidance in collaboration with Ofgem. Provide input into the design of the Governance, Policy and Regulation team. Support the creation of regional and national governance structures. Draft and facilitate industry consultations to shape the regulatory framework. Translate complex regulatory and technical information into accessible formats for a range of audiences.Skills and Experience Strong experience working on network licence or guidance documents, ideally within the energy sector. Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and how licences operate in a regulated environment. Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-moving, high-pressure setting. Detail-oriented with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience setting up governance structures, particularly involving Local Authorities. Background in energy distribution or transmission, especially in regulatory roles. Familiarity with the whole energy system (e.g. electricity, gas, hydrogen, heat, transport decarbonisation).
