We are seeking an experienced Finance & Data Analytics Lead to join the Data Applications & Solutions (DAS) team. The position is being offered on an initial 6 month contract, hybrid working being based from the Bristol office 2 days a week with the remaining 3 days working from home.

This role will act as the vital bridge between Finance stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring that data, reporting, analytics and transformation initiatives deliver meaningful business outcomes.

The successful candidate will possess strong Finance domain knowledge and be comfortable working with complex data, translating business requirements into clear solutions, and supporting strategic change initiatives. They will play a key role in driving data quality, business insight, regulatory compliance, and operational improvement across the Finance landscape.

Whilst experience within Insurance, Actuarial functions and SAS is advantageous, applicants from other Finance backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Business Expertise

  • Act as the Finance SME for data and analytics initiatives across DAS.
  • Provide expert guidance on Finance processes, controls, data structures and reporting requirements.
  • Support the interpretation of Finance business needs and translate them into clear data and technology requirements.
  • Engage with Finance stakeholders to understand priorities, challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure solutions align to Finance governance, risk and control requirements.

Data & Analytics

  • Analyse complex Finance data sets to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts and technical teams to design effective data solutions.
  • Contribute to the definition of business rules, data mappings and data lineage documentation.
  • Support reporting, analytics and insight generation across Finance domains.

Change & Transformation

  • Support strategic data and transformation programmes across Finance.
  • Provide impact assessments and business analysis for system, process and data changes.Assist with testing, business validation and implementation activities.
  • Champion data-driven decision making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships across Finance, Technology and Change functions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in a way that is easily understood by business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirements gathering sessions and solution discussions.
  • Influence stakeholders at all levels to drive successful outcomes.

Essential Skills & Experience

Required

  • Significant experience working within a Finance function or supporting Finance operations.
  • Strong understanding of Finance data, reporting and related business processes.
  • Experience translating business requirements into data or technology solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting data-driven change, transformation or improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex data sets.
