Responsibilities- Deliver month‑end timetable including Flash, actuals and balance sheet attestation, and all external deliverables such as FLA returns and VAT returns.
- Oversee finance analysts who perform daily control and review activity.
- Support the Finance Manager with key deliverables, ensuring the ledger is complete and accurate, reducing key‑person dependencies and driving forward issue resolution.
- Contribute to governance, legal entity and risk packs, focusing on strengthening controls and reviewing them regularly.
- Collaborate closely with a large number of internal teams, including other finance teams and CB Finance business partner teams (primarily in London and Bristol).
- When required, liaise with Accounting Policy, Divisional Business and Operations teams, Finance Platform colleagues, and internal or external auditors.
- Perform complex data processing using established procedures and test new procedures for potential improvements.
- Track budgets and bring variances to the attention of senior colleagues while working within established budgeting systems.
- Work independently to collate and analyse data using pre‑determined tools, methods and formats.
- Organise and prepare complex documents using multiple computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) and summarise data for special reports.
- Track progress and report variances to senior colleagues within established finance systems.
- Develop personal capabilities using formal and informal training opportunities, and coach others as required.
- Deliver prescribed outcomes within established procedures; help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships using client systems and protocols.
- Support internal customers to ensure their needs are met and help senior colleagues manage client relationships.
- Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, and use established change‑management programmes to deliver outcomes or provide support services.
- Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) – preferred.
- Proven experience in financial control, month‑end close, balance sheet substantiation and external reporting (e.g. VAT and regulatory returns).
- Experience overseeing or reviewing work performed by finance analysts, ensuring strong controls and accurate ledgers.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to track budgets, investigate variances and interpret complex financial data.
- Experience operating within a large, regulated or financial services environment, with a strong governance and risk mindset.
- Confident stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to collaborate across Finance, Business, Operations and Audit teams.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with experience using core finance systems.
