The Contract Manager sits within the UJV Operations team and is responsible for ensuring contracts are in place with the supply chain and that suppliers are ready to deliver operational requirements.

About the Role

The role is responsible for managing a portfolio of operational contracts, ensuring effective supply chain management, appropriate contracting strategies, and mitigation of business risks through strong commercial agreements. The role requires close collaboration with the wider Contract Management Team, stakeholders, and suppliers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead development and drafting of complex, operationally critical contracts
  • Own and manage a portfolio of complex contracts
  • Act as lead commercial representative for spot tenders and framework awards
  • Provide assurance of contracts and cost evaluation
  • Support budgeting and cost control processes
  • Lead contract performance reviews using KPIs and SLAs
  • Provide guidance on complex contract matters
  • Resolve contractual discrepancies
  • Lead resolution of commercial, contractual and supplier performance issues
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Review and challenge processes to drive improvements
  • Provide training and coaching

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know How

  • Expert knowledge of contract and supplier relationship management
  • Experience using Contract Management Systems (CMS) and invoicing/payment systems
  • Strong understanding of contract law
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead others
  • Experience in construction or operational contract management
  • Strong commercial acumen and supply chain management skills
  • Experience in cost analysis, programme evaluation and negotiating compensation events
  • Ability to prepare and present concise reports
