Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Engineer to join a high-performing Risk Technology team. This role focuses on designing and developing modern web applications and APIs that support critical risk management capabilities within a large-scale banking environment. The successful candidate will have strong expertise across the modern Java ecosystem, experience building enterprise-grade applications, and a passion for solving complex technical and business challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust Java-based web applications and APIs.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and engineering teams to deliver scalable risk management solutions.
  • Translate complex business requirements into high-quality technical designs.
  • Develop and enhance microservices and distributed applications.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following engineering best practices.
  • Create and maintain unit and integration tests.
  • Support deployment and operation of applications within containerized environments.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Core Java Development
  • Strong commercial experience with Java development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the modern Java ecosystem.
  • Experience with enterprise application development and backend services.

Frameworks & APIs

  • Strong experience using Spring Framework (Spring Boot preferred).
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and web services.

Databases

  • Strong SQL and relational database experience.
  • Ability to write efficient queries and troubleshoot database performance issues.

Cloud & DevOps

  • Experience working with containerized applications.
  • Hands-on experience with: Docker, Kubernetes.

Testing

  • Experience developing unit and integration tests.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and test-driven development principles.

Communication

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

  • Financial Services or Banking domain experience.
  • Risk Technology, Risk Management, or Regulatory Technology experience.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

  • Knowledge of microservices architecture.
