Job Title: Category Buyer Location: Kent Contract Type: 12 Months Are you an experienced procurement professional looking to take the next step in your career? Our client, the leading LNG importation terminal in the UK, is seeking a passionate and driven Category Buyer to join their dynamic Procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a world-class facility that delivers the highest standards of performance for their customers. Job Purpose: As a Category Buyer, you will play a crucial role in strategic procurement operations, assisting the Category Manager in implementing category strategies and driving value for our client. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the business and externally to understand and analyse supply chains, identify business needs, and offer the best procurement solutions. Key Responsibilities: Deliver multiple strategic sourcing events within your portfolio, working with stakeholders to understand and challenge demand. Contribute to the development and execution of sourcing strategies, ensuring best-in-class procurement practices that drive value. Collaborate with Contract Managers to ensure successful delivery of contracted activities and identify continuous improvement opportunities. Support the development and delivery of assigned category strategies and share best practices across other category teams. Profile category characteristics, research supply markets, and assess trends, opportunities, and risks. Manage tender events for key products and services required by the business. Contribute to effective forward planning by identifying future requirements and ensuring robust forecasting. Develop regional contractual agreements that meet customer stakeholder requirements.Skills and Qualifications: Degree level or equivalent qualification or experience. Experience in strategic sourcing and category management. Understanding of project management principles with a track record of consistently delivering outstanding results. Strong negotiation skills to achieve high-value outcomes. Ability to develop and manage complex commercial assessment models across a balanced scorecard.
