Role: Data Engineer
Location: Remote (must be prepared to travel to Bristol 1 - 2 days a month)
About the Role: As a Data Engineer, you will report directly to the Lead Data Engineer and play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines. Your expertise will ensure data availability, quality, and performance, supporting key analytics and operational decision-making.
- Build scalable, secure, and efficient data pipelines, ensuring that data is accessible and of the highest quality.
- Help shape the data engineering roadmap, aligning solutions with business priorities and technical strategies.
- Leverage automation and best practices to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Data Science, Insight, and Governance teams to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Implement data governance and security standards, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Identify risks and ensure ongoing enhancement of data engineering processes.
- Lifecycle Management: Monitor the data pipeline lifecycle from design to post-deployment performance analysis.
- Vendor Engagement: Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines.
- Stay updated on industry trends to continuously enhance data engineering capabilities.
Skills Required:
- Strong skills in SQL, Python, and familiarity with tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, and Airflow.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
- Strong grasp of data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing concepts.
- Knowledge of data governance and privacy frameworks.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
