Role Overview
My client is seeking an Operational Risk Analyst to join the Global Markets Operations function, supporting day‑to‑day BAU operational risk management across front‑to‑back markets processes. This role sits close to the business and is highly hands‑on, focusing on risk identification, control oversight, audit engagement, and governance discipline within a fast‑paced investment banking environment. The successful candidate will bring strong operational risk knowledge, a solid understanding of Global Markets operations, and confidence operating in a control‑driven, audit‑focused environment. Experience with formal issue management frameworks is desirable but not essential. You will be office based in Chester 3 days a week, 2 days working from home, standard office hours Monday to Friday with the occasional out of hours requirement in line with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support BAU operational risk activities within Global Markets Operations, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, documented, and appropriately escalated.
- Act as a first point of contact for audit and regulatory requests, coordinating responses and ensuring timely, high‑quality submissions.
- Ensure teams save down evidence correctly, maintain audit trails, and adhere to governance standards.
- Maintain and oversee process and control documentation, including process inventories and risk assessments.
- Monitor and support remediation of control gaps, issues, and risk events, working closely with operations and control partners.
- Partner with Audit, Compliance, and Operational Risk stakeholders to address findings, themes, and emerging risks.
- Produce and maintain risk reporting, trackers, and logs, providing clear visibility of status and actions.
- Embed a strong risk and control mindset across Global Markets operational processes.
Required Experience & Skills
- Strong Operational Risk experience within a regulated financial services environment.
- Demonstrable experience within Investment Banking or Global Markets Operations (e.g. collateral, settlements, reconciliations, onboarding, trade support, derivatives operations).
- Working knowledge of controls, risk identification, audit support, and governance requirements.
- Experience responding to audit / regulatory requests and coordinating evidence collection.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple BAU priorities in parallel.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, comfortable working with senior operations teams.
Desirable
- Exposure to issue management, remediation tracking, or use of formal issue / action management frameworks.
- Familiarity with process inventories (e.g. SPI), control maps, or risk & control self‑assessments.
- Experience working closely with 2LoD Operational Risk or Compliance teams.
