A fantastic new opportunity has become available for Senior Java Swing Developer with one of our Financial Services clients based in Bromley. Role : Senior Java Swing Developer Location : Bromley (1 Day week Onsite) Duration : 12 Months The candidate will be part of Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities technology team, which has a proven track record of delivering critical low-latency front-office pricing/trading solutions to the FICC businesses. The candidate will be working in the eFX technology team, helping to analyze, design, build and deploy multi-tier, high availability systems globally deployed systems. Experience and Skills required : Solid knowledge of Java and all aspects of GUI development using Swing including but not limited to threading, performance optimization, building UI widgets, etc. Experienced within FX and Capital Market – Trading platform is essential. Business domain knowledge in FX and/or FX Options. Experience of working in Front office systems. Working experience building distributed applications in Java. Candidates must have actively used design patterns in the past implementations and demonstrate strong understanding on design patterns of why and where a pattern should be used. Strong understanding of Messaging Middleware concepts, usage and application. Experience with distributed architecture (caching, topologies, etc.) and able to demonstrate strong understanding of latency, concurrency, reconciliation etc. Working knowledge of reading, writing and parsing XML. Strong understanding of a RDBMS. Must have an understanding of writing complex SQL, stored procedures, applying referential integrity & performance tuning. Strong analytical skills with a desire to learn and deliver. Financial Background essential. Responsibilities: Development is primarily Java based, with peripheral technologies including TIBCO Rendezvous (RV), Sybase, UNIX shell scripting, and middleware based on IBM MQ Series. Repertoire should include knowledge of client-server/distributed technologies. Candidates will ideally show evidence of the above in their CV to be considered.
