SAP Functional Lead (FICO) in Royal Leamington Spa

We’re seeking a seasoned SAP Functional Lead with expert experience with SAP Finance, project systems and line management to join a large utilities client.

The SAP Functional Lead is responsible for translating business requirements into effective SAP solutions, serving as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams. They own the functional design of one or more SAP modules, ensuring configurations align with enterprise processes while identifying opportunities for standardisation and simplification. The role combines deep system expertise with strong facilitation skills, guiding workshops, managing cross-module dependencies, and supporting end users through testing, training, and post-go-live stabilisation.

• Solution Design & Business Alignment — Oversee delivery of functional specifications and configured SAP solutions that accurately reflect agreed business requirements, balancing process standardisation with legitimate business needs.
• Stakeholder Confidence & Decision-Making — Ensure business stakeholders are informed, engaged, and able to make timely decisions on design options, trade-offs, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
• Cross-Module Integration — Ensure end-to-end process integrity across SAP modules, ensuring that upstream and downstream dependencies are identified, resolved, and validated before go-live.
• Knowledge Transfer & Business Readiness — Equip end users and support teams with the understanding needed to operate and maintain the solution independently post-go-live.
• Continuous Improvement & Issue Resolution — Maintain solution stability and evolve system capability by resolving functional issues promptly and identifying opportunities to improve processes and configurations over time.

• Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance (GL, AP, AR, reporting)
• Strong working knowledge of Asset Accounting and fixed asset lifecycle integration
• Solid understanding of SAP Project Systems (WBS, budgeting, settlements, cost flows)
• Clear understanding of cross‑module integration with MM and SD
• Knowledge of S/4HANA simplifications vs ECC, including Universal Journal and data model changes

• Leads functional design workshops and converts requirements into implementable solutions
• Analyses complex problems and recommends clear, pragmatic options
• Communicates effectively with senior business stakeholders and technical teams
• Manages priorities across multiple workstreams without loss of quality
• Mentors and reviews the work of junior consultants to maintain delivery standards

• Multiple end‑to‑end SAP implementations in a functional lead or senior consultant role
• Accountability for Finance, Project Systems, or Asset Accounting workstreams
• Hands‑on experience across requirements, design, configuration, testing, and hypercare
• Experience with S/4HANA greenfield or brownfield migrations, including data migration and cutover
• Background in asset‑intensive or project‑driven environments
