The Data Office is looking to support all areas of the bank in making better use of data. This role is to be a Data Migration - Data Analyst who can support migrations within multiple programmes or projects both large and small as part of the Bank’s Transformation. Working through a full lifecycle of Discovery, Definition, Design, Development, Deployment, and optimization. The Data Analyst role will contribute and establish the bank’s Data Migration framework to support multiple requests for movement and transfer of data between systems.

Background: The Data Office is requested to support and lead a number of Data Migration projects which require Data Analyst expertise. We need to migrate various data elements, e.g., securities clients into previously BI only IT systems and operational processes. This requires the migration of client data both static and dynamic into new systems as well as improve referenced data configuration/setup work in the systems to support our clients.

The intention is to develop a Data Migration framework and approach supporting the overall strategy whilst identifying and using supporting tools for migration. There is also a goal to collaborate with the Data Analytics and Data Innovation teams and leverage the benefits of AI including Generative AI to support Data Quality Assessments, Data mapping, Transformation, Anonymisation, Data validation, Optimisation of Migration paths, Predictive analysis, Migration monitoring, Semantic recognition, Data lineage and Data Migration testing.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Data Lineage identification and Data Mapping – map source data fields to target field. Document transformation rules and logic.
  • Data Transformation and Validation – use ETL tools and develop scripts to transform data to the desired format or structure.
  • Data Quality Control, Collection and Cleansing: Identify and collect relevant data from multiple sources, including internal databases, external vendors, and APIs. Perform data cleaning, transformation, and standardization processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Data Analysis, validation and Interpretation: Utilise tools to perform data analytics, including data blending, analysis, and modelling. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into data analysis tasks.
  • Problem Solving and Testing: Technical skills to use data to support investigations and testing, understand how to get root cause of problems, working with SMEs and team members. Review and recommend improvements to processes, data, controls to support improving the Bank.
  • Semantic recognition, Data Rules and tool configuration: A number of our programmes or work have a configuration component. The ability to use software solutions to write, document, evaluate, test and improve these rules.
  • Data Visualization and Reporting: Create visually appealing and interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel. Present complex data analysis findings in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders at various levels of the organization. Develop automated reports and data visualizations that provide insights.
  • Data Governance and Quality Assurance: Ensure data integrity, data privacy, and compliance with regulatory standards. Adhere to data governance processes to maintain data quality, consistency, and security. Identify and resolve data quality issues by conducting data audits and implementing appropriate data cleansing techniques.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, IT team, Divisions and decision-makers, communicate findings, recommendations, and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Advice and Innovation: Provide advice to teams within the business about tools, data and skills. Have an innovation outlook, trying to find new ways of supporting and improving our business.
  • Support Cutover Planning and Runbook Management: Contribute to the development and execution of data migration and cutover tasks that need to be completed during the data migration preparation execution and cutover implementation.
  • User Coordination: Work with users on how to use the migrated data.
  • Post-Migration Validation: Validate the migrated data in the target system to ensure it meets the required quality standards and supports the organisation's operations. Coordinate validation for the other systems as defined by other respective leads.
  • Tech Authoring of documents that describe the cutover and implementation process developed.
  • Develop an integrated relationship with the IT teams that will help build and test the technology to support the cutover and implementation approach.
  • Work with operations teams to design, develop and approve setup of reference/static data for testing and go-live.
  • Coordinate with business process stakeholders to ensure that the business context and impacts are considered.
  • Post-Migration Review: Conduct a post-migration review to identify any lessons learned and areas for improvement in future migrations.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate with all stakeholders to keep them informed about the progress of the cutover and implementation and address any concerns they may have.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience in Data Engineering, Rule writing and testing, Working with Large and Small Data, Data Migration execution and test practices.
  • Proficiency in ETL tools – Talend, Informatica, SSIS and with Migration tools – AWS DMS, Azure Data Migration Service.
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with database technologies – Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL.
  • Principles of Data Governance and Data Quality.
  • Data Remediation.
  • Data Security and Handling within a Bank.
  • Documentation and Requirements Gathering.
  • The Ability to solve problems, develop options and champion change.
  • The ability to identify, manage and maintain Risk (RAID) Logs.
  • The ability to define and realise benefits.
  • You must be able to work on multiple projects at one time, and be able to organise and prioritise work.

Desirable:

  • Experience in data migration, data integration or similar role.
  • Experience with Microsoft technology.
  • Ability to use JIRA or Service Now Project Management tools.
  • Understanding of the data sets within a Bank that has an investment arm.
