This position is responsible for the development and operational execution of training and competence programs, ensuring they meet the needs of the business and comply with industry standards.

Key Deliverables

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the company’s training and competence strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Managers and the wider Training and Competence team to develop innovative training and competence programs that address current and future skill requirements.
  • Manage and mentor the Training & Competence team, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Oversee training expenditure and the allocation of supportive funding, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet strategic goals.
  • Engage with senior management and key stakeholders to align training and competence initiatives with business needs, ensuring all training and competence activities comply with legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in training delivery, assessment processes, and competence management systems.
  • Provide regular updates and strategic insights to the Manager and senior management team on training and competence performance.
  • Lead internal and external audits related to training and competence, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Conduct regular offshore and site visits as required and act as delegated authority for the Training & Competency Manager as required.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Essential: CIPD Level 5 or a related field with extensive experience in leading training and competence functions.
  • Desirable: Experience in a management role within the Energy sector.
  • Desirable: BOSIET/FOET and associated mandatory certification.

Job Specific Knowledge

  • Essential: Expert knowledge of training and competence frameworks, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Desirable: Experience in managing large-scale, multi-site training operations.
  • Desirable: Understanding of ECITB Apprenticeship programme, Connected Competence, APTUS programme.
