The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

This role focuses on keeping buildings safe and compliant by maintaining and testing fire and life safety systems. You will carry out planned maintenance, respond to urgent repairs, complete statutory testing, and ensure all work is done safely, accurately, and on time. You will work with clients and site contacts, record everything properly, and represent the company professionally on every visit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned maintenance and statutory tests on fire alarms, emergency lighting, smoke ventilation/AOVs, fire curtains and extinguishers.
  • Diagnose basic faults, carry out minor repairs and support commissioning where required.
  • Complete all reports, logbooks, certificates, commissioning sheets and asset registers correctly and on time.
  • Order and organise tools, materials and replacement parts, working with the maintenance manager/supervisor.
  • Carry out weekly site fire alarm tests.
  • Attend callouts and urgent repairs, including some work outside normal hours.
  • Spot additional remedial works, raise job sheets and report issues clearly.
  • Follow all Health & Safety rules, risk assessments, permits, and isolation procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with tenants, clients, and building managers.
  • Represent the company well at all times and play a part in securing customer satisfaction.

Key Technical Knowledge & Experience Essential:

  • Hands-on experience working with fire alarms and life safety systems.
  • Experience with 1st and 2nd fix installation and fault finding.
  • Ability to work independently and organise your own workload.
  • Experience completing weekly fire alarm tests and monthly emergency lighting checks.
  • Comfortable using commissioning tools, software or basic programming for alarms.
  • Practical understanding of costs, materials and avoiding waste on site.

Desirable (training can be provided):

  • FIA or FireQual fire alarm/life safety qualifications.
  • Fire damper testing.
  • Fire door checks.
  • Knowledge of British Standards including BS 5839, BS 5266, BS 7346-8, BS 8524, BS 5306, BS 8214 and BS 9999.
