We are seeking an experienced CNC Maintenance Engineer to join our client's facilities and maintenance team based in Ely. The successful candidate will provide first-line support for CNC machine downtime, assist with preventative maintenance activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the machining operation.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to CNC machine breakdowns and downtime issues
- Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities
- Liaise with external service engineers and equipment manufacturers
- Ensure CNC equipment operates efficiently and reliably
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including TPM, Kaizen, and 5S
- Assist with procurement and installation of new CNC equipment
- Work closely with production teams to improve machining processes
- Train and support operators on maintenance best practices
Requirements:
- Apprenticeship-trained or equivalent engineering qualification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in CNC service or maintenance engineering
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance experience on CNC multi-axis milling machines
- Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, vacuum systems, and PLC diagnostics
- Electrical fault-finding experience and basic three-phase electrical work capability
- Experience implementing TPM programmes and preventative maintenance strategies
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems and software
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and solve problems effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
