Polytec are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Inspector to join our client located in Ely. This is a key role responsible for inspecting incoming assemblies, subassemblies and components to ensure they meet engineering, customer and quality management system requirements before progressing through the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities:
- Verify the conformity of parts, assemblies and subassemblies against engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements
- Identify, document, and escalate nonconformances in accordance with company procedures
- Use a variety of inspection and test equipment to collect accurate and repeatable measurement data
- Complete inspection records accurately, ensuring full traceability and audit compliance
- Support investigations into quality issues and nonconformances
- Liaise with Production, Engineering and other departments to resolve manufacturing and quality-related concerns
- Monitor the condition, maintenance and calibration status of inspection equipment
- Maintain 6S standards within the inspection area and contribute to continuous improvement activities
- Support wider Operations Quality activities and undertake additional duties as required to meet business objectives
Requirements:
- BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing quality inspection environment
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience using a range of inspection and measurement equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection activities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A positive, proactive attitude with good problem-solving ability
- The confidence to challenge product progression when quality concerns are identified
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Experience working to tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards
