Polytec is seeking a skilled Repair Fault Finding Engineer to join our client based a few miles north of Cambridge. You will be working for a growing technology organisation within a busy repair centre environment. This role focuses on diagnosing and repairing complex electronic equipment while supporting continuous improvement across repair processes.
Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed fault finding and repair at component and system level
- Diagnose complex, intermittent, and non-standard faults
- Validate repairs using appropriate testing and verification methods
- Support development and improvement of repair procedures and methodologies
- Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues
- Contribute to root cause analysis and reliability improvements
- Maintain accurate repair records, documentation, and fault databases
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and health and safety requirements
Requirements
- Qualifications in Electronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Strong component-level fault-finding experience
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation
- Experience using diagnostic equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, multimeters)
- Analytical approach to problem solving with high attention to detail
Desirable
- Experience with advanced PCB repair or BGA rework
- Knowledge of RF or wireless communication technologies
- Experience mentoring or supporting technical teams
- Use of ERP and repair tracking systems (e.g. Dynamics 365)
- IPC certification (e.g. IPC-7711/7721 or equivalent)
