Location: Cambridge (CB24)
Duration: Temporary initially with a view to go temp to perm after around 3 months
Hours: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday
Salary: £15.38 - £20.51 per hour dependent on experience
Polytec are looking for skilled R & D Technicians to join our Cambridge based client. The successful candidates will support laboratory-based research, prototype development and testing activities. This is a hands-on role suited to technicians with strong mechanical and/or electrical skills who enjoy working in a collaborative engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Assembly, setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems and test rigs
- Supporting experimental testing including test rig operation and accurately recording data
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, tools and consumables
- Manual machining of one-off parts
- Ensuring health & safety and quality procedures are followed
- Working closely with engineers to support ongoing R&D programmes
Requirements
- A formal engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an R & D, engineering or industrial environment
- Strong practical skills in mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience working with laboratory equipment and experimental setups
- Proactive, flexible approach with strong attention to detail
- Lab management experience or knowledge of HVAC, hydraulic or industrial control systems would also be an advantage
