Our client is seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to join their growing team in Cambridge. This is an exciting hands-on role supporting the development, maintenance and optimisation of next generation detection products used across multiple industries. If you are methodical, technically capable and enjoy working in a fast-paced engineering environment, this could be the perfect next step in your career!
As an Engineering Technician, you will work closely with Engineering and Technical Leads to build, test, repair and support complex electronic and electro-mechanical systems. You will play a key role in maintaining product performance and reliability, ensuring systems are built and operated to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, operate and maintain advanced systems
- Perform test routines and report results to the Engineering Team
- Diagnose, debug and repair PCB based and electro-mechanical systems to component level
- Commission, calibrate and verify systems and instruments
- Assemble and manufacture test jigs and fixtures
- Conduct acceptance testing on new products
- Perform calibration and validation activities
- Carry out component inspection using microscopes and precision tools
- Work within a regulated Quality Management System (ISO 9001 / ISO 13485)
- Interpret technical drawings and electronic schematics
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
Qualifications and Experience
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electronic, Biomedical, or Chemical Engineering
- Experience supporting engineering activities in a high-tech laboratory setting
- Strong PCB debug/repair skills: schematics, fault finding, soldering, cable preparation
- Hands-on workshop experience (lathe, drill, hand tools)
- CAD/SolidWorks experience desirable
- Able to fault find to component level
- Proficient using PC based diagnostic and instrumentation software
- High dexterity and confidence working with delicate components
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Methodical, reliable and able to follow instructions precisely
