Polytec is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a growing, multidisciplinary team for our client based in Cambridge. The role focuses on the design and development of novel process systems that support decarbonisation technologies, including carbon capture and hydrogen storage. You will contribute to the delivery of innovative, commercially viable mechanical systems that address urgent climate and energy challenges. Working alongside engineers and scientists, you will help take new technologies from concept through to prototype and testing, with a strong focus on real world deployment.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative mechanical components and systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Lead and contribute to projects involving prototyping, testing, and validation of novel systems.
- Manage and collaborate with external suppliers, manufacturers, and technology partners.
- Carry out feasibility studies, simulations, and performance assessments under operating conditions.
- Identify cost effective manufacturing and scale up opportunities.
- Work closely with chemists, materials scientists, and process engineers.
- Present technical concepts and findings to stakeholders.
