Hours: 8.30am - 4pm, Monday to Friday (flexibility is required in line with business demand)

Polytec are looking for a Lead Electrical Technician to join our Haverhill based client. The successful candidate will support the assembly and testing of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) battery systems and supervise a small team of Technicians. All work must be carried out in line with strict electrical and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test battery systems, including functional, safety, performance and endurance testing
  • Operate specialised equipment such as welders, cyclers, BMS diagnostic tools, insulation resistance testers, hipot testers, DMMs and data logging systems
  • Follow HV/LV safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • Record and analyse test data, reporting deviations and supporting root-cause investigations
  • Support engineering teams with manufacturing processes, test planning and validation activities
  • Maintain calibration and maintenance records for equipment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and testing

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as an Electrical Technician including work with high voltage systems
  • Manufacturing or production experience in an electrical or electronics environment
  • Strong understanding of HV and LV electrical principles and diagnostics
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment
  • HV certification or relevant industry training

Desirable

  • Experience testing or validating battery systems or energy storage solutions
  • Knowledge of safety standards relating to HV battery systems
  • Experience with battery systems, power electronics or EV components
  • Electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition, or equivalent)
  • Background in automotive, aerospace, battery manufacturing or other high-tech industries
