Hours: 8am until 4:30pm (Monday to Friday)

Polytec are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our client based just north of Cambridge. This role is ideal for a proactive supply chain professional with experience managing international suppliers, driving cost reduction initiatives and supporting business growth through effective procurement and supply chain management. Occasional international travel will be required so candidates will need a valid passport as well as their own car and a full driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage key supplier relationships and performance
  • Schedule and procure materials to support customer demand
  • Drive continuous improvement across an international supply base
  • Support purchasing strategy development and implementation
  • Manage component obsolescence and supplier sourcing activities
  • Negotiate contracts and deliver cost reduction initiatives
  • Manage inventory levels and purchase order processing
  • Ensure timely material deliveries to support production requirements
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities
  • Analyse commodity market trends and supply chain risks

Requirements

  • CIPS Level 4 qualified (or working towards qualification)
  • Experience within electronics, telecommunications or a similar manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of offshore contract manufacturing management
  • Experience supporting products from development through to volume production
  • Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across multiple departments
  • Highly organised, motivated and results-driven
  • Able to prioritise effectively and perform under pressure
  • Willing to travel internationally when required
