Type: Temporary

Duration: Ongoing, opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate

Hours: 40 hours per week, 08:00-16:30 with 30 minutes lunch break. Part time hours considered.

Salary: £12.71 - £14.42 per hour, dependent on experience

This role involves managing stock levels, ordering and receiving parts, picking and issuing materials alongside mechanical and electrical assembly work on sub‑assemblies and full‑system builds. This role would suit a reliable, detail‑focused team player who is comfortable using tools, working with IT systems and supporting production in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity to start a new career, as full training is provided.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day‑to‑day stock control, ensuring accurate stock levels and availability of consumables and minimum‑quantity items
  • Raise purchase orders for ad‑hoc project requirements and consumable stock
  • Monitor and chase outstanding purchase orders to ensure timely delivery
  • Receive and inspect incoming goods, checking accuracy against documentation
  • Pick and issue materials for projects and internal requests accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, including de‑kitting and correct storage of parts
  • Carry out scheduled stock takes and update stock records accordingly
  • Pick, pack and arrange shipment of small goods for dispatch when required
  • Communicate progress, shortages and issues to the Production Manager to support smooth production operations
  • Carry out mechanical assembly of sub‑assemblies
  • Carry out electrical assembly of sub‑assemblies and support electrical work on full‑system builds
  • Support other departments when required
  • Follow all safety procedures and uphold organisational values at all times
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately
  • Confident IT skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; MRP system experience desirable
  • Physically fit and able to remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Reliable, honest and able to complete tasks to deadlines
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Confident use of hand and power tools for cutting, shaping and assembling components
  • Willingness to adapt, embrace change and assist across departments as needed
Desirable Requirements
  • Previous experience as a stores person, assembler or logistics operative in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in mechanical assembly, panel building or cable assembly using electrical schematics
  • Forklift truck licence or experience
