An excellent opportunity has arisen for a detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join a growing manufacturing and operations team in Ely. This role will support procurement, planning and operational teams to ensure the efficient flow of materials and accurate supply chain data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with suppliers to monitor and maintain delivery schedules
  • Producing and analysing purchasing and inventory reports to support business operations
  • Supporting procurement activities including raising and processing purchase orders
  • Monitoring stock levels and helping ensure material availability
  • Working closely with planning and operations teams to coordinate changing material requirements
  • Investigating and resolving supplier invoice discrepancies
  • Preparing supplier performance reports and KPI data
  • Maintaining accurate ERP/MRP system information
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain
  • Participating in supplier reviews and meetings where required

Requirements

  • Previous experience within purchasing, procurement, supply chain, planning or manufacturing environments
  • Relevant supply chain, procurement, manufacturing or business qualifications would be beneficial
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Good analytical and reporting capabilities, particularly with Excel
  • Knowledge of inventory control, material planning or supply chain processes
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, Kanban or continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Proactive problem-solving approach with a strong sense of ownership
