Working as an Applications Engineer you will:
- Bring enough technical knowledge to quickly learn our product range
- Deliver high quality technical support to a range of customers
- Work closely with other business functions such as service, sales and logistics
- Achieve individual targets and support company order goals
- Present a positive image of the company to all types of customers and other contacts
- Be highly responsive to all customer needs and expectations
- Be primarily office based initially, with some onsite visits as part of your training and development
Key Responsibilities
You will be required to:
- Assess, plan, coordinate and execute customer measurements, feasibility studies, customer demonstrations and training
- Provide technical consultancy and support to a wide range of engineering industries
- Provide technical support to customers and our own team
- Maintain your CRM entries and provide technical reports
- Install customer systems within the UK and Ireland
- Support the sales team in the UK with technical advice and customer face-to-face contact
You are or have:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or relevant experience
- Experience working with Optical surface metrology
- Demonstrate a proactive and logical approach to problem solving and have a broad basic technical knowledge
- Willing to travel as required and able to self-manage when in a remote working environment
- Able to work as a member of a team in both leading and following roles
- A desire to advance skills and knowledge
- A desire to provide excellent technical service to our customers
- Experience of lasers, optics or (white light) interferometry (Desirable)
- A clean UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK

The successful candidate will initially be based primarily in our Coventry office, developing their technical knowledge, product expertise and applications experience through a structured programme of training in both the UK and Germany. As experience and competency are developed, it is expected that the role will progress to include independent customer visits throughout the UK and Ireland to carry out:
- Measurement and testing services
- Feasibility studies
- Technical consultancy activities
- Application support and training
Upon reaching this stage of development and assuming regular customer site visits as part of the role, a company car will be provided. This progression path offers an excellent opportunity to develop from a graduate applications engineer into a highly skilled customer-facing applications specialist within the field of optical measurement technology.
