Location: Midlands, hybrid working model applicable

This is what you can expect:

  • Responsibility for recording and posting business transactions in day‑to‑day accounting, including independent account clarification and reconciliation
  • Management and oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, P&L accounts, and fixed asset accounting
  • Contributing to the preparation of monthly and annual statutory financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB), including the accounting assessment of recurring and standardised transactions as well as the preparation of the balance sheet and profit and loss statement
  • Monthly preparation of IFRS reporting packages for group reporting purposes
  • Preparing analysis of financial statements and assisting with internal and external reporting
  • Intercompany reconciliation
  • Preparation of regular and manual payment runs
  • Preparation of monthly VAT returns and the annual VAT return, including clarification of VAT‑related issues in the movement of goods
  • Designing, execution and documentation of internal controls
  • Identification and implementation of process improvements within the accounting function
  • Collaboration with internal departments and external partners such as tax advisors and auditors, as well as independent coordination of the annual audit process

What you need to bring:

  • Completed degree in Business Administration with subsequent professional experience in finance and accounting, or completed commercial traineeship/apprenticeship, ideally with an additional qualification as a Certified Accountant (IHK) or a comparable qualification
  • At least 5 to 7 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, auditing, and/or tax advisory
  • Sound practical experience in accounting in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) is required; knowledge of IFRS is desirable
  • Relevant practical experience in accounting for individual entities (general ledger) and preparing (monthly/annual) financial statements in ERP systems
  • Knowledge of UK and Irish tax law and regulations would be advantageous, but is not essential
  • Analytical thinking skills and a strong affinity for numbers
  • Strong process understanding and the ability to implement improvements operationally
  • Very good MS Office skills and confident handling of ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics Navision / Business Central)
  • Independent, reliable, structured, and goal‑oriented way of working
  • High level of motivation and initiative
  • Strong team spirit, communication skills, and reliability
  • Good command of English and German (level C1)
