Role Overview
It is a very hands‑on role that will require leading and providing advice and support to the organisation; and to be the responsible named person for maintaining health and safety requirements for the Company’s offices and manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement of the HSE culture, promoting positive behaviours and employee engagement
- Work closely with departmental managers to implement Group HSE policies, procedures and best practice
- Support and maintain effective site HSE management systems
- Lead and support accident, incident and environmental investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and preventative actions
- Provide expert advice and guidance to site management teams on Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant HSE legislation and ensure site compliance
- Ensure accurate recording, analysis and reporting of accident and incident data, tracking trends and actions
- Consult and communicate with the workforce on HSE matters through meetings and formal forums
- Work collaboratively with Occupational Health to support and implement recommendations
- Develop and deliver HSE projects and the annual HSE plan in line with Group KPIs
- Partner with L&D to evaluate, develop and deliver effective HSE training
- Oversee permits to work and contractor safety, ensuring safe working practices on site
- Support risk assessments, safe systems of work and internal, group and external audits, maintaining accurate records
Skills & Experience
- Qualified NEBOSH Diploma
- Desirable NEBOSH General Certificate Minimum (or working towards)
- IEMA Professional Environmental training / qualification Desirable
- In depth knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and experience of health and safety and environmental matters within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to lead and drive cultural and behavioural change and improvements in a diverse working environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with all staff across all levels of the business
- Ability to work on own initiative through excellent time management skills
- Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook
- Possess internal drive to develop and deliver the expectations of the role with an energetic and passionate approach
