Role Overview
To assist in delivery of large-scale Capital investment projects at the Horncastle site within CGU while also taking full responsibility for the delivery of smaller, standalone engineering projects, maintaining all works to the highest possible standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate and install mild steel and stainless‑steel structures.
- Fabricate and install pipework, including stainless steel systems.
- Carry out general machine installation and modification works.
- Transport fabricated parts to external suppliers (powder coaters/galvanizers).
- Plan project requirements, resources, and subcontract labour.
- Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all activities comply with Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
- Complete mandatory training and support apprenticeship development.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Work in alignment with the Company Operational Strategic Pillars.
Skills and Experience
- Apprenticeship time served in a mechanical, fabrication or manufacturing discipline.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and producing fabrication/engineering drawings.
- MIG welding experience.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes (welding, machining, cutting, forming, assembly).
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and risk‑assessment procedures (RAMS, permits, method statements).
- Must have a valid UK driving licence.
