We’re looking for enthusiastic, hands-on individuals to join our team as an Apprentice Toolmaker. This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, gain a recognised qualification, and build a long-term career in manufacturing and engineering.
What you’ll be doing
- Manufacture, modify, repair and refurbish tooling and equipment (including injection mould and extrusion tools)
- Use workshop machinery and bench toolmaking techniques
- Read and work from technical drawings
- Diagnose problems and find practical solutions
- Work safely, following Health & Safety rules and quality standards
- Keep your work area clean, organised and safe
- Work as part of a supportive team while developing your skills and confidence
Don’t worry — you won’t be expected to know everything from day one. You’ll be trained, supported, and guided throughout your apprenticeship.

- Have at least 4 GCSEs at Level 4 or above, including Maths and Science
- Have a genuine interest in engineering, mechanics or how things work
- Enjoy problem-solving and working with your hands
- Are reliable, keen to learn and take pride in your work
- Communicate well and enjoy working as part of a team
- Are open to learning new skills and trying new challenges
Training & working hours
- Full-time apprenticeship
- 1 day per week at Doncaster College (during term time) 08:00 – 16:30
- On-the-job training with experienced professionals at Polypipe
