Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. We work with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Class 1 Driver to join our company based from our Broomhouse Lane site in Edlington, DN12.

Role: Responsible for carrying out deliveries across the UK while ensuring our customers get the best impression of our organisation. You are the ‘face’ of our business, not just our delivery driver. It’s all about making a good impression with your appearance, manner and the look of your vehicle. Ensuring goods are delivered in a first-class condition, completing all necessary paperwork and above all, leaving everyone you meet with a really positive impression of you and our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive company vehicles and operate company equipment in a safe and proper fashion and in accordance with company policies, procedures and legislation.
  • To carry out vehicle, load and auxiliary equipment checks prior to operation of any vehicle and report any defects immediately.
  • To deliver goods to customer premises across the UK ensuring service levels are maintained.
  • To meet all special instructions as requested by transport office.
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed and signed as required.
  • On return to your base / at the end of shift report to the traffic office for a full debrief.
  • Undertake a driving skills assessment at any time as requested.
  • Comply with the vehicle security and standing instructions at all times.
  • Where company uniform and personal protective equipment has been issued they must be worn at all times when on duty.
  • To ensure all product is loaded on the vehicle in a safe, evenly distributed manner and secured appropriately for travel on the public highway in line with current legislative and guidance requirements.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab & condition of the vehicle you are allocated.
  • Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure.
  • Attend essential training in order to carry out the driver role.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, to include the Company Standards of Performance and Health and Safety Policy.
  • Hold & Maintain the necessary driving licence & vocational entitlement relating to your role & in the event of any changes to that status to notify the Transport Manager immediately.
  • High levels of Health and Safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Current CPC.
  • Possess LGV C+E (Class 1) driving Licence.
  • Digital Tachocard and an up-to-date Drivers Qualification Card and have a full understanding of tachograph legislation.
  • Excellent verbal communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Customers and Co-Workers.
  • Diligent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to cover working hours.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role.
  • Numerate and literate.

There is Manual work involved in this role:

  • Loading and unloading of goods from vehicles.
  • Stacking of empty pallets.
  • Coupling and uncoupling of trailers.
  • Opening and closing of vehicle curtains.
