Role Overview
To manage the contractual and commercial aspects of projects, ensuring financial accuracy, risk mitigation, and compliance with contractual obligations. The role supports project delivery through effective cost control, subcontract management, and technical input, while contributing to operational efficiency and team development. It plays a key part in safeguarding the company’s commercial interests and ensuring successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and negotiate subcontracts to ensure favourable terms and mitigate commercial risks.
- Monitor and manage project cashflow, including forecasting and tracking income/expenditure.
- Prepare and submit accurate applications for payment aligned with contract milestones.
- Maintain detailed cost files and manage subcontract orders and variations.
- Provide cost analysis and commercial insight to support strategic decisions.
- Interpret construction drawings and perform technical calculations.
- Liaise with stakeholders to develop and deliver engineering solutions.
- Attend site to support installations and resolve technical issues.
- Promote Lean principles and continuous improvement within the technical department.
- Lead training reviews to support team development and enhance service capabilities.
Skills and Experience
- Proven track record managing contracts across multiple projects.
- Experience with NEC, JCT, and other standard forms of contract.
- Experience in construction.
- Strong understanding of contract law and cost planning.
- Skilled in contract negotiation, administration, and dispute resolution.
- Proficient in standard Methods of Measurement and specifications.
- Ability to produce analytical estimates using computer-based systems.
- Competent in MS Office, project management software, and QS tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
