Cross Functional Operator – Polypipe Building Services

Polypipe Building Services is a specialist in providing engineered above ground drainage and water supply systems. Leveraging off‑site fabrication, the company designs and delivers solutions to mechanical and public health engineers, M&E contractors and local authorities for commercial, high‑rise residential, health‑care, education and leisure projects. The Cross‑Functional Operator role offers flexible operator cover across the production areas (Injection Moulding, Assembly and Extrusion) during high demand and employee absence periods.

Responsibilities

  • Packing manufactured products into boxes, bags or crates (Moulding and Assembly) or into wood u‑frames (Extrusion).
  • Ensuring quality standards are achieved at all times and supporting with inspection.
  • Capturing and entering all relevant data into appropriate systems.
  • Preparing packing materials for each production batch.
  • Booking products onto IFS where required.
  • Transporting products to warehouse, working progress or other finished‑goods storage.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working area for yourself and others.
  • Separating waste and scrap products into designated containers.

Skills & Requirements

  • Understanding of packaging and visual and dimensional quality requirements as defined on product information sheets (PIS).
  • Ability to operate appropriate MHE after training.
  • Knowledge of company‑specific H&S and environmental requirements.
  • Training in Safe Systems of Work (SSW’s) appropriate to tasks.
  • Flexibility to move between production areas.
