Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products. Role Overview: The individual will oversee the development and implementation of Site Service processes to maintain proper departmental functionality and cost efficiency, as well as ensuring the Site Services team supports all onsite functions. The role holder will constantly review efficiencies, evaluate, and implement Site Services changes and specification requirements and drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives throughout the organisation, all of which supports the delivery of high-quality products to clearly defined standards. Key Responsibilities: * To ensure the health, safety and welfare of the company\’s employees, visitors, and customers through the delivery of a professional engineering function that applies up to date best practice. * Ensures the effective maintenance of all plant equipment, its support systems, and associated contracts. * All statutory compliance requirements are to be fulfilled and managed effectively. * The overall direction and delivery of the Site Services strategy through effective team management, to ensure continuous improvement in the reliability of plant and equipment across all areas of production. * Functional line management of the Site Services teams. * Drives TPM across the facilities. * Drive a consistent engineering approach across sites, including CMMS, training, service, and compliance standards. * Lead/facilitate problem solving and cross functional teams to resolve product/process issues. * Develop and instil continuous improvement principles and methodologies, to implement new/improved operational practices in the Site Services department. * Monitor and manage operating costs within the Site Services department and identify opportunities for cost reduction and minimisation. * Liaise regularly with other internal/external departments to ensure the achievement of high levels of customer satisfaction and the effective management of customer expectations. * Set up and manage maintenance and service contracts where applicable. Skills & Requirements: * Experience of delivering a world class maintenance system within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. * Desired, but not essential, experience within a plastics production environment. * Previous experience managing a multi-disciplined team at departmental level. * Strong engineering background, ideally time served Engineer, educated to HND level in Mechanical or Electrical discipline. * Extensive knowledge and technical experience gained within a continuous production environment. * Significant experience assisting in delivering continuous improvement programmes. * Ability to demonstrate delivery of medium to large scale Capex projects (to the value of £1m) * In depth knowledge of H&S requirements, ideally IOSH Managing Safely qualified. * Previous experience with or training in lean tools (5S, Kaizens, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping) would be advantageous. * Self-motivated problem solver with the ability to make high level decisions on own initiative. * An enthusiastic people manager who enjoys seeing his/her team thrive and work towards challenging targets. * Possess an energetic drive for results, with a passion for quality and continually raising the bar. * Excellent verbal and written communications skills. * Experience of managing a unionised workforce, would be advantageous.
