Role overview: You will provide timely and proactive HR support to managers and colleagues across the organisation. Working in a fast‑paced environment, you’ll act as the first point of contact for people‑related queries, offering clear advice to ensure policies are applied consistently, colleague relations are supported, and managers are confident in managing their teams.

  • Employee Relations (ER)
    • Manage a varied caseload including absence, performance, disciplinary, and grievance matters from start to finish.
    • Support fact‑finding and formal investigations, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation.
    • Provide objective, consistent advice in line with policy, employment law, and organisational standards.
    • Escalate complex or high‑risk cases to the HR Business Partner as appropriate.
  • Policy, Process and Compliance
    • Provide managers and colleagues with clear guidance on HR policies and procedures.
    • Ensure consistent and fair application of policies across all areas of the organisation.
    • Maintain compliance with employment legislation and internal governance.
    • Identify risks or policy gaps and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Manager Support and Coaching
    • Coach managers to build their confidence and capability in handling people matters.
    • Support managers in areas such as performance management, conduct, wellbeing conversations, and colleague engagement.
    • Provide advice on organisational changes, role design, and structure queries.
  • HR Administration and Systems
    • Maintain accurate colleague data and ensure timely updates within HR systems.
    • Prepare paperwork for contractual changes, payroll instructions, and other HR processes.
    • Support payroll deadlines and ensure data is provided accurately and on time.
    • Produce regular HR reports and dashboards as required.
  • Absence and Attendance Management
    • Advise managers on short‑term and long‑term absence processes.
    • Support return‑to‑work plans, Occupational Health referrals, and welfare meetings.
    • Monitor absence trends and elevate concerns to the HR Business Partner.
  • Culture, Engagement and Wellbeing
    • Promote an inclusive and positive workplace culture aligned to organisational values.
    • Support the delivery of engagement initiatives and communications.
  • HR Projects and Continuous Improvement
    • Contribute to HR projects such as policy reviews, system improvements, and organisation‑wide initiatives.
    • Support HR Business Partners with project work and change activity.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and improve colleague experience.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Previous experience with Workday or a similar HR systems.
  • Good knowledge of employment law and HR policies, with experience handling a range of employee relations cases.
  • Able to interpret policies and provide clear, practical advice to managers, using sound judgement to balance risk and fairness.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust, manage sensitive conversations, and adapt your approach to different stakeholders.
  • Well organised and able to manage a varied workload in a fast‑paced environment, with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player who works effectively with HR colleagues, Payroll, Occupational Health, and wider teams.
  • Able to analyse HR data, spot trends, and suggest practical solutions.
  • Confident using HR systems and digital tools, with a focus on data accuracy.
  • Driving licence is essential for this role so that you are able to travel to sites within the business division when required.

Monday - Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, office based.
