About Polygon Labs
Polygon Labs is a global blockchain payments company building and operating infrastructure to move money instantly, reliably, and at internet scale, with the mission to move all money onchain. It is building the Polygon Open Money Stack, an open and integrated stack of services and technologies to instantly and reliably move money anywhere, and put it to work. Its infrastructure has facilitated trillions of dollars in onchain value transfer and supported millions of transactions daily for some of the globe's largest banks, fintechs, enterprises, and consumer applications.
Your Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Polygon Labs, you will play a key role in building OMSX, the unified gateway and dashboard for the Polygon Open Money Stack. OMSX is the primary interface through which developers and enterprises integrate with Polygon Labs' financial infrastructure, including payments, wallets, and other onchain services. This is a greenfield opportunity to design and build backend systems from the ground up. You will work on high-scale infrastructure that will process hundreds of millions to billions in transaction volume, while shaping how developers interact with the Polygon Labs ecosystem. You will own meaningful parts of the backend architecture, contribute to critical system design decisions, and help establish the foundations for a platform that will power global money movement.
Your Responsibilities
- You will design and build backend systems that power OMSX and the broader Polygon Open Money Stack, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
- Design and implement scalable Go services that support high-throughput financial workloads.
- Build and maintain APIs that integrate across multiple internal services and external financial systems.
- Develop backend systems that handle large datasets with strong performance and reliability requirements.
- Optimize PostgreSQL queries and data models for high-scale production environments.
- Implement caching strategies and performance improvements using technologies such as Redis.
- Contribute to system observability through structured logging, metrics, and monitoring.
- Collaborate closely with frontend and platform teams to deliver a seamless developer and user experience.
- Participate in architectural discussions and make informed trade-offs across system design decisions.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including 3+ years working with Go in production environments.
- Strong experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems and APIs.
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, including query optimization and working with large datasets.
- Experience with caching strategies and systems such as Redis.
- Proven ability to build systems from scratch and operate independently in fast-paced environments.
- Solid understanding of system design, data flows, and service-to-service integrations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building financial systems, payments infrastructure, or other high-scale transaction platforms.
- Familiarity with developer-facing platforms (APIs, SDKs, dashboards) and developer experience best practices.
- Experience with observability tooling (metrics, logging, monitoring) in production systems.
- Experience with OLAP databases (such as ClickHouse, and BigQuery) for business intelligence and analytics.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or GitHub Actions.
- Interest in blockchain technology or financial systems.
