The Business Development Director is a critical sales role for our client, leading the sales and marketing operation that is aligned with the focus of our client to help our clients and stakeholders deploy solar and storage solutions within the region. This person executes business development and sales initiatives in support of Bookings, Revenue, and Profit goals for the year. This person maintains consistency and quality in presenting the company brand throughout the solar industry and in all customers in the region. They are expected to be the leadership face of our client and participate in key domestic conferences and trade shows, and any other events as appropriate to bring the sales and marketing message throughout the region.
Primary duties
- Sales Execution: Identify significant problems & opportunities. Analyze problems and people in depth. Sort the wheat from the chaff, determining root causes. Generate new approaches to problems or innovations to established best practices. Show imagination in reaching and achieving the designated sales goals. Achieve individual and stretch annual bookings each year. Support initiatives to achieve annual bookings, revenue, and profitability targets. Support Company priorities and business unit growth goals. Lead deal negotiations, contract development, and other customer activities. Successfully cross-sell services offerings to existing client base.
- Customer Experience and Relationship: Monitor client satisfaction (internal or external). Establish partner relationship with clients. Visible & accessible to clients. Support and advance relationships with key customers, suppliers, partners, and other solar industry participants. Work with other teams to improve Client Experience and Satisfaction and measure results through achievement of company targets.
- Sales Operations and Forecasting: Determine opportunities & threats through comprehensive analysis of current & future market place trends. Comprehend the big picture. Manage ERP & CRM reporting and ensure that 100% of information is accurate and updated daily and weekly. Support the Sales Operations team by ensuring that necessary Engineering Service Request (ESR) forms are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Support the finance team by ensuring that invoicing is timely and A/Rs are collected within ninety (90) days. Direct and provide oversight to the sales operations and Inside Sales teams. Improve communications tools and processes to ensure that business, client, and project information is effectively communicated, professionally organized, centrally catalogued, electronically linked, and securely stored.
- Marketing: Present to the domestic Solar marketplace and adjust messaging to conform to the domestic customs and cultures customer find appealing while taking in market-based information to forward into the organization for forward based marketing campaigns. Maintain consistency and quality in presenting the brand throughout the industry and in all business development and partner channels. Participate in key domestic conferences and trade shows, and any other events. Coordinate and provide guidance to the Marketing Director to optimize brand image and marketing effectiveness. Provide perspective, feedback, and suggestions for improving competitive positioning.
- Culture: Achieves sufficient balance among work, wellness, relationships, community involvement, professional associations, friendships, hobbies & interests. Support cross department initiatives including ways to drive efficiency and yield better customer outcomes. Articulate Mission, Vision, Purpose, Values. Participate in company culture building activities, walk-the-talk on culture, commitment, and quality. Ensure that values are reflected in daily work. Complete all required regulatory and HR processes for reporting staff.
- Leadership: Earns trust of co-workers. Puts organization above self-interests. Complete effective quarterly performance reviews of direct reports and establish/track job performance milestones. Counsel, mentor, guide, and challenge reporting team members as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 10-15+ years in Solar PV and/or energy storage Industry required.
- College Degree or equivalent work experience in Solar PV or energy storage engineering/technical, additional degree in business desirable.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate focused teams.
- Ability and desire to work with customers with integrity and professionalism.
- Responsive and proactive problem solver with a "get it done" mentality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
