The successful candidate will work directly with the Head of Risk Management to manage and continually develop the risk management framework for Polo Managing Agency and all syndicates under its management. Key responsibilities include leading the ORSA, risk appetite and tolerance development, risk and control assessments, risk incident and emerging risk reporting, and support for the onboarding of new syndicates.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of PMA’s Risk Management Framework and ensure it reflects market best practice.
- Provide input into the development and enhancement of each syndicate’s risk appetite framework, including monitoring of risk tolerance metrics and thresholds.
- Update and maintain risk and control registers, reviewing sources of risk, risk response strategies and control effectiveness.
- Lead risk and control assessments, identifying, documenting and evaluating key controls.
- Perform bespoke risk analysis, including independent risk assessments, scenario analysis and annual risk management plan development.
- Provide risk management support and expertise, delivering second‑line oversight and challenge across PMA’s portfolio of projects.
- Support onboarding of new syndicates, including risk assessments and facilitation of Lloyd’s Making it Happen.
- Manage the risk incident process, assess business impacts, recommend actions and complete root cause analyses.
- Contribute to stress testing, scenario analysis and reverse stress testing, including operational risk scenarios for syndicate internal models.
- Maintain and enhance the emerging risks register and framework.
- Lead quarterly and annual ORSA processes, producing relevant regulatory risk reports.
- Support the validation of managed syndicates’ internal models.
- Provide risk services as an outsourced serviced syndicates under management.
- Review and update risk management policies in line with governance requirements.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
- Degree level qualification; relevant professional qualification such as Institute of Risk Management or Chartered Insurance Institute preferred.
- Experience in London Market risk management teams; Lloyd’s experience advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and communicate effectively with senior management.
- Excellent attention to detail, highly numerate, literate and analytical, with the ability to convey risk management information meaningfully.
- Team player with the ability to work independently, initiate action and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent experience with Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience of using risk software advantageous.
