Polo Managing Agency (PMA) is seeking a talented Risk Manager to play a key role in shaping and embedding our risk management framework across the agency and the syndicates under our management. This is a high‑visibility role offering broad exposure across the business, significant interaction with senior leaders, and the opportunity to directly influence how risk supports strategic decision‑making. Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Risk & Governance to continually enhance PMA’s risk management framework, ensuring it reflects market best practice and adds real value to the business.
- Partner with teams across the agency to support effective risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting.
- Enhance PMA’s Risk Management Framework, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
- Develop and refine syndicate risk appetite frameworks, including risk tolerance metrics, thresholds, and reporting.
- Maintain and improve risk and control registers, ensuring risks, controls, and mitigation strategies remain accurate and effective.
- Facilitate risk and control assessments, ensuring key controls are identified, documented, and assessed for design and operational effectiveness.
- Conduct bespoke risk analysis, including independent assessments and scenario analysis in line with the annual risk plan.
- Provide second‑line oversight for PMA’s project portfolio, ensuring project risks are identified, challenged, and appropriately mitigated.
- Support onboarding of new syndicates, including risk assessments and Lloyd’s Making It Happen requirements.
- Manage the risk incident process, including impact assessment, recommended actions, and root cause analysis.
- Contribute to stress and scenario testing, including operational risk inputs for syndicate Internal Models.
- Maintain and enhance the emerging risks framework and register.
- Support quarterly and annual ORSA processes, including production of regulatory risk reports (ORSA/OSCA).
- Assist with validation of internal models for managed syndicates.
- Deliver risk services to outsourced serviced syndicates.
- Review and update risk management policies in line with governance requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree‑level education and/or a relevant professional qualification (IRM, CII).
- Experience in London Market risk management; Lloyd’s experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and written communication skills, with the ability to translate risk concepts into meaningful insights.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with risk management software is beneficial.
- A mindset aligned with PoloWorks’ PRIDE values.
