At Legal & General, we're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop a high-performing engineering team while remaining hands-on in the delivery of modern software solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to shape technical direction, drive engineering excellence, and create an environment where people can thrive. You'll work closely with engineering, product, architecture and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and reliable technology solutions that create value for our customers and support our business ambitions.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading and developing a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, secure and reliable software solutions
- Prioritising, planning and overseeing delivery activities to achieve predictable and effective outcomes
- Designing and building scalable, maintainable software while remaining an active hands-on engineer
- Coaching, mentoring and supporting engineers through feedback and structured development plans
- Embedding a culture of quality, testing and security across day-to-day engineering practices
- Driving continuous improvement through delivery metrics, operational insights and observability data
- Managing operational readiness, incident response processes and technical debt to maintain resilient systems
- Collaborating with product, architecture and business stakeholders to remove blockers and deliver customer value
Who we're looking for:
- Significant hands-on Java engineering experience, including building and operating Spring Boot microservices
